Own-Your-Rolodex Personal CRM
A personal CRM for people who keep losing touch: flat low price, unlimited contacts and reminders, data always portable.
In plain English
- What category is this?
- Teams buy to close deals and help customers — CRM, outreach, support inboxes. Here the focus is consumer productivity.
- The idea, briefly
Build one flat, low consumer price (target roughly $3-4/month or $39/year, with a usable free tier) for unlimited contacts and unlimited keep-in-touch reminders, automatic capture from the email and calendar accounts a person already has, a one-click importer from Dex, folk, Mesh and Monica, full export on demand, and an MCP endpoint so a personal AI assistant can read relationship context. Aimed at individuals and small networks the $12-48/month, per-seat, credit-metered tools price out, and at people who will not run a server. Caveat: Monica already sells a flat $90/year with unlimited contacts plus free self-hosting, so the novelty is the lower price and zero-maintenance capture, not flat pricing itself.
More ▾- What buyers expect
People comparing tools like Dex, folk, Mesh (formerly Clay) expect the basics to work without surprise fees or missing pieces. The loud complaints are: The leading open-source personal CRM can silently fail its core job. A user reports that ticking 'Create a reminder for this every year' on a built-in life event 'silently does nothing': no reminder row is created and no error appears, so an anniversary or birthday nudge never fires; and the main free/cheap option is mid-rebuild and its current hosted app is closing to new registrations. Monica's maintainer writes that 'Monica v1. will stop accepting registration in the fall '26' and the beta will 'remain available for some months but then we will disable the instance entirely' while a new version is built; the pricing page advertises Monica v3 'coming before the end of 2026' and still sells the flat $90/year hosted plan with free self-hosting.

Should you build this?
People clearly pay to remember the contacts they make: Dex charges $12-20 a month, folk $24-48 per member, Covve $12-20 per seat, and Mesh, now owned by Automattic, says its members manage 150 million contacts. But the cheapest option, open-source Monica, already sells one flat $90-a-year plan with unlimited contacts and gives the software away to self-host, and the founder of another personal CRM warns that most people 'aren't willing to pay and put in the effort.' So the honest bet is not a new category but a lower-price, lower-maintenance one: unlimited contacts and reminders for a flat few dollars a month, capture that happens automatically from the email and calendar someone already uses, one-click import from the incumbents, and export you can always take with you. This can fail: Monica already owns cheap-and-flat and free self-hosting (and is rebuilding with v3 due before the end of 2026), personal CRMs lose users because keeping notes is work, and Dex, folk, Mesh and Covve can cut prices. Kill it if fewer than 5 of 20 pre-pay, if more than half have already stopped using their current tool, or if they say Monica's free self-hosted version covers them.
