No-Relay Verified Signature Control Plane
Multi-tenant email signature control for MSPs and multi-brand teams. No vendor relay in the mail path. Flat price per tenant, unlimited seats.
Founder thesis
Incumbents route mail through a vendor relay and charge per seat, which puts the signature vendor inside the customer's SPF and DKIM path and forces a 10-seat minimum on every tiny tenant. I bet MSPs will pay a flat per-tenant fee for a control plane that applies signatures through each tenant's native mail platform and then proves, after every change, that the signature rendered and authentication still passes. The operational pain is documented and the category monetizes, but this is a channel-led market, not a greenfield one.
What others got wrong
Exclaimer's server-side flow removes the existing DKIM signature when it applies a signature, returns the message for final signing, and adds regional IPs to SPF, so the signature vendor becomes part of the customer's authentication setup. A DMARC-monitoring vendor wrote this, which makes the source self-interested.
Signatures can silently stop applying, and the vendor ships a dedicated 'Signature is not applied' troubleshooting guide instead of preventing it.
Per-seat pricing with a 10-user minimum and annual billing makes an MSP pay for at least 10 seats on every small tenant and reconcile seat counts and renewals per tenant per year.
Google Workspace gets thinner coverage because CodeTwo markets only Microsoft 365 and Exchange signature management.
What should work
Apply signatures through each tenant's native mechanisms, Gmail Admin and Gmail API settings for Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365 client or roaming signatures or native transport rules where they fit, so the tenant's own SPF, DKIM and DMARC stays authoritative.
After every change, send a real test message down the tenant's production route and assert the signature rendered and authentication passes with an aligned d= domain, alerting the MSP when a tenant silently stops applying signatures.
Bill the managed tenant flat with unlimited seats and keep the vendor relay out of the mail path, the cost structure that makes a flat per-tenant price possible.
Give the MSP one console across all tenants, since Exclaimer's partner case study shows a distributor already managing 160+ customer tenants and 46,000 licenses.
What kills it
- Incumbents are already cheap per seat and G2 reviewers call Exclaimer good value, so a price-led wedge is weak.
- CodeTwo's published volume rate of $0.73/user/mo at 500 licenses undercuts a flat $39/tenant plan at 600 seats, so the price story only holds against Exclaimer.
- Provider-native insertion cannot do per-recipient targeting, dynamic per-user images, or some mobile clients, so some tenants will not leave their current vendor.
- No source shows MSPs want to leave their current tool, so switching demand is a guess.
What users want
4Signatures that keep applying
An r/sysadmin poster wrote that after a 30-minute delay signatures stopped applying entirely while the vendor status page only reported email delays (secondhand).
Mail that passes SPF and DKIM while signatures apply
An r/msp poster reported a 30+ day diagnosis and warned peers to confirm the tenant's mail leaves the correct Exclaimer region with passing SPF and that Office 365 DKIM signs the root domain, not the initial *.onmicrosoft.com domain (secondhand).
To know how the signature relay affects deliverability
Suped, which sells DMARC monitoring, wrote that a signature service can affect SPF when it changes the outbound sending path and the relevant sending IP is not authorized.
Signatures that render, since logos and templates break
Exclaimer's support community carries 337 knowledge-base articles, including 'Why is my logo not showing,' across 911 topics.

What customers complain about
7| Gap | Src |
|---|---|
Server-side signature insertion can invalidate DKIM and change the SPF sending path, so the signature vendor becomes part of the customer's authentication setup. | |
MSPs have spent weeks diagnosing signature-related mail rejections caused by the relay's regional SPF and DKIM alignment. | |
Signatures can silently stop applying, and the vendor keeps a dedicated troubleshooting guide for exactly that failure. | |
A third-party relay sits in the customer's outbound path, which security and ops teams must authorize and monitor. | |
Per-seat pricing with a 10-unit minimum and annual billing creates procurement and reconciliation overhead for MSPs running many small tenants. | |
Google Workspace tenants may have fewer single-vendor options because CodeTwo markets only Microsoft 365 and Exchange. | |
No source shows MSPs actively want to leave their current signature vendor, so switching intent is a guess. |

How competitors find customers

| Exclaimer's Xccelerate program attaches through existing Microsoft 365 and security bundles with published partner numbers: Prodata at 160+ customers and 46,000 licenses, 96% customer retention, deals in as little as 21 days, and partners CDW, Carahsoft, Crayon, Sourcepass and Xerox. | exclaimer.com✓ |
| WiseStamp's PartnerUp recruits IT providers as resellers and marketing agencies as referrers with a partner portal, ROI calculator and co-branded assets, on top of free tools and a Chrome extension, and self-reports 1.5M customers. | wisestamp.com✓ |

Your angle & pricing wedge
| Piece | Claim | Src |
|---|---|---|
| Angle | A multi-tenant signature control plane that applies signatures using each tenant's native mechanisms rather than a vendor relay, so the customer's own SPF, DKIM and DMARC stays authoritative. After every change it sends a real test message down the production route and asserts the signature rendered and authentication still passes, alerting the MSP when a tenant silently stops applying signatures. | |
| Wedge | Bill the managed tenant, not the seat, and drop the relay. At 20 tenants x 30 mailboxes (600 seats), Exclaimer Pro costs $1,050/mo and CodeTwo about $732/mo at its 10-seat annual rate and about $438/mo at its 500-license rate, versus $780/mo at a flat $39 per tenant. The flat plan beats Exclaimer but loses to CodeTwo at both published rates, so the undercut only holds for Exclaimer-priced, multi-tenant fleets. |
How others got traction
3| Move | Why | Src |
|---|---|---|
| Exclaimer built a dedicated MSP and reseller channel (Xccelerate) and publishes partner case studies with hard numbers | A small per-seat line item attaches easier through an MSP's existing Microsoft 365 relationship than through paid acquisition, so the channel carries tens of thousands of seats per partner, as the 46,000-license distributor case shows. | exclaimer.com✓ |
| WiseStamp runs free browser tools, a Chrome extension and a reseller/referral program as the top of its funnel | Free tools capture long-tail 'email signature generator' search intent and the extension captures individuals before they become company-wide buyers, though no conversion metric is published so the link is unproven. | wisestamp.com✓ |
| CodeTwo differentiates through Microsoft 365 certification and one all-features plan with volume discounts | In Microsoft-only shops the certification plus a no-tiering plan cuts the buyer's evaluation work, a distribution advantage rather than a product moat. | codetwo.com✓ |

Category self-serve pricing is already very low per seat ($0.73-$1.75/user/mo with 10-seat minimums), so the category monetizes but a price-led wedge is weak; whether a flat per-tenant price wins MSPs is unproven. | exclaimer.com✓ |
Should you build this?
The category monetizes and the operational pain is documented, but this is a channel-led market and the wedge is operational, not a price or feature breakthrough. Incumbents are already cheap per seat, G2 reviewers call Exclaimer good value, Exclaimer and WiseStamp already run partner and multi-tenant portals, and CodeTwo's published volume rate can undercut a flat per-tenant plan. What remains distinctive is the no-relay design plus post-change verification that signatures rendered and authentication still passes. One test first: recruit 15 MSPs managing 15-100 Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace tenants that currently resell Exclaimer or WiseStamp; collect per-tenant seat counts, annual spend, and at least one traced incident in the last 12 months where signatures silently stopped applying or mail was delayed or rejected around the relay; then ask for a paid pre-order of a $39-per-tenant/month annual plan covering 10 tenants. Kill it if fewer than 5 of 15 pre-pay, fewer than 8 can produce a traced incident, or more than 3 say provider-native insertion cannot cover their tenants' needs well enough to leave their current vendor.
