Loyalty Bill Reset

An independent Shopify app that forecasts your loyalty bill, flags overpriced plans, and exports members, points and tiers so a switch does not lose accumulated value.

In plain English

What category is this?
Sellers and shoppers use this to list, sell, fulfill, or buy products online. Here the focus is e.
The idea, briefly

Build a vendor-neutral Shopify app that (1) forecasts the merchant's current loyalty bill from order volume and the incumbents' published rate cards, (2) benchmarks that bill against alternatives and flags overage or quote-only overpricing before the invoice lands, and (3) exports members, points and tiers into a portable file so a switch does not lose accumulated value. Caveat: incumbents already advertise bundled migration (LoyaltyLion's offer, BON's listing, and Smile's white-glove migration feature), so the wedge is independent pre-bill auditing and portable data, not migration alone, and incumbent export access is unproven.

What buyers expect

People comparing tools like Smile.io, LoyaltyLion, BON Loyalty expect the basics to work without surprise fees or missing pieces. The loud complaints are: Custom/enterprise loyalty pricing is opaque and quotes look arbitrary; and custom-plan prices rise sharply year over year with no public rate card.

Custom/enterprise loyalty pricing is opaque and quotes look arbitrary.
Custom-plan prices rise sharply year over year with no public rate card.
Order-volume metering turns loyalty into a growth tax.
Importing historical orders gets billed as usage.
Core features and help are gated to higher tiers at Smile.
Support is gated behind an expensive tier at Rivo.
Merchants on the free tier are pushed to a much higher paid plan once they cross the order cap, which they read as penalizing growth.

Inference: a merchant whose loyalty bill has reached roughly $200-$999/mo is the natural buyer of a $29-$49/mo audit,

Should you build this?

The pain a new product can attack is not another rewards app but the bill. Shopify store owners already pay real money for loyalty apps, and the job is simple: turn repeat customers into points, tiers and referrals. The category clearly makes money: Smile has 4,616 app-store reviews, LoyaltyLion says it runs 12,000+ rewards programs, and BON and Rivo each have over a thousand reviews. Merchants publicly say Smile's order thresholds push them toward $200 a month, that LoyaltyLion quoted an arbitrary custom price and then raised it year after year, and that importing old orders to Rivo was billed as usage. So the wedge is an independent, vendor-neutral tool that forecasts a merchant's loyalty bill from order volume and the incumbents' published rate cards, benchmarks alternatives, and exports members, points and tiers so a switch does not lose accumulated value. The hard truth is that the incumbents advertise bundled migration (and Smile lists white-glove migration), so moving points alone is not a business; the honest bet is that merchants will pay a small flat fee to see the truth about their bill before compressing a switch. This is not guaranteed to work. Kill it if fewer than 5 of 20 pay, if the incumbents' export access blocks five or more of the migrations, or if more than half say the incumbents' free migration already covers them.
