Flat-Rate Self-Serve Questionnaire Autofill
Unlimited security-questionnaire autofill for sub-50-person B2B SaaS teams, at one flat monthly price, using your own knowledge base.
Founder thesis
I am betting that small B2B SaaS teams doing 1-4 questionnaires a quarter are badly served by per-credit and per-FTE pricing, and will pay one flat monthly fee for unlimited autofill from their own knowledge base. LLMs make autofill cheap to build now. Incumbents bundle down-market but still meter usage, which leaves the no-demo, unlimited, flat-price slot open.
What others got wrong
Conveyor excludes questionnaire automation from its free plan and charges $9,600/yr for 20 questionnaire credits, about $480 a questionnaire.
HyperComply prices by FTE bracket and starts at $6,000/yr even for teams under 50 people.
Vanta and Drata bundle autofill into their compliance tiers (Vanta Plus 25/year, Professional 144/year; Drata Standard 10), which only reaches teams already paying for the platform.
What should work
Charge one flat monthly fee instead of per-credit or per-FTE. Conveyor's $480 a questionnaire and HyperComply's $6,000/yr floor leave room for a $99-$199/mo unlimited plan.
Answer from the customer's own documents, because the core complaint is repetition. The answers are always the same, just copy-pasted each time.
Handle the ugly formats. Prospects send 500-row Excel sheets to fill in cell by cell, so return filled Excel and Word files.
Skip the demo. Let a one-page offer and a card-before-build test prove demand at a flat $149/mo.
What kills it
- Incumbents bundle autofill free into compliance tiers and keep cutting price, so a paid standalone tool has to beat free.
- Low switching costs. Any cheaper copycat can take a customer overnight.
- AI answers can come out shallow and incomplete, as a paying HyperComply user reported on G2 in Aug 2022.
- Sub-50-FTE teams may do only 1-4 questionnaires a quarter, too few to justify even $99/mo.
What users want
5Do not make us pay $20K to Vanta just for questionnaires.
A SaaS founder wrote the objection on r/SaaS. These wants come from search-result quotes, not interviews.
Stop burning whole days on a 551-question form.
A GRC reviewer wrote '551 questions!! Four wasted hours of my life' in a search result that returned no article text.
Stop copy-pasting the same answers.
One Reddit user wrote that the answers are always the same, yet they still spend 4-5 hours copy-pasting from old questionnaires and security docs.
Stop filling a huge Excel sheet cell by cell.
A user described a prospect's InfoSec team sending a huge 500-row Excel spreadsheet to fill in cell by cell.
Keep the answers consistent across every questionnaire.
A G2 reviewer wrote on the HyperComply AWS listing that the AI answers were short one-liners, missed questions, and did not save time.

What customers complain about
7| Gap | Src |
|---|---|
Small SaaS teams treat price as the reason they avoid the incumbents. One search-result quote reads: I don't want to drop $20K on Vanta just for questionnaires. | |
A GRC reviewer on a 551-question form: '551 questions!! Four wasted hours of my life' (search result with no article text). | |
Repetition is the core pain: 'The answers are always the same. But I still spend 4-5 hours copy-pasting from old questionnaires and our security docs.' | |
Format friction is real. A prospect's InfoSec team sends a huge 500-row Excel spreadsheet that has to be filled cell by cell. | |
Consistency is a separate cost: teams 'spend 4-8 hours per questionnaire copy-pasting from old spreadsheets/docs and trying not to contradict ourselves.' | |
Even paying users say the AI answers are shallow. A G2 review dated Aug 21, 2022 reports one-liners with too little detail and many questions left unanswered even though the material was in the knowledge base. It predates HyperComply's Sept 2025 SecurityScorecard acquisition, so it says little about today's answer quality. | |
Self-serve entrants still meter usage. Conveyor's Business plan starts at $9,600/yr for only 20 questionnaire credits (about $480 each) and excludes questionnaire automation from free. HyperComply's floor is $6,000/yr by FTE bracket. Sub-50-FTE teams doing 1-4 questionnaires a quarter are overpriced by both. |

How competitors find customers

|---|---|
| Vanta: cold outbound to warm-ish YC founders from YC's Bookface company lists, plus founder and VC word-of-mouth instead of marketing. | review.firstround.com✓ |
| Conveyor: free Trust Center as a product-led wedge, with paid questionnaire automation as the expansion layer, and the free plan explicitly excludes questionnaire automation. | conveyor.com✓ |
| HyperComply: a startup discount program, 60% off with unlimited responses and a 3-day SLA, to capture the small-company segment. | hypercomply.com✓ |
Your angle & pricing wedge
| Piece | Claim | Src |
|---|---|---|
| Angle | A no-demo, self-serve autofill tool. It ingests the customer's existing policies, questionnaires and spreadsheets into a private knowledge base and returns filled Excel and Word files and portal answers, at one flat monthly price instead of per-questionnaire credits or per-FTE annual contracts. | |
| Wedge | The incumbents price per credit or per FTE, Conveyor at $9,600/yr for 20 questionnaire credits (about $480 each) and HyperComply from $6,000/yr even below 50 FTE. A flat $99-$199/mo unlimited self-serve plan undercuts that $6,000-$9,600 floor by roughly 60-80%, though the willingness of sub-50-FTE teams to pay it rests on a single unverified Reddit founder comment. |
How others got traction
3| Move | Why | Src |
|---|---|---|
| Conveyor gave away a free Trust Center with 10 credits/mo, then charged $9,600+/yr for the questionnaire-automation layer. | Conveyor's own Series B post says the product began with a modern Trust Center and then questionnaire automation with LLMs. No source isolates the free Trust Center's contribution to paid conversion. | conveyor.com✓ |
| HyperComply sells a startup package at 60% off with unlimited questionnaire responses and a 3-day SLA. | The discount is documented on HyperComply's own page. Whether it turns startups into lasting paid accounts is not shown, since no conversion metric is published. | hypercomply.com✓ |
| Vanta reached early traction by founder word-of-mouth and outbound to YC founders, not a website or marketing team. | Founder-attributed. YC's Bookface lists were used to prioritize who to cold-contact, and she credits word-of-mouth for the first customers. The source does not separate network effects from product quality. | review.firstround.com✓ |
Market heat
Conveyor reports 480+ customers, 1M+ questions answered, 800K+ Trust Center interactions and 3x growth, with $40M total funding and a $20M Series B led by SignalFire (company PR, self-reported).
More ▾Zendesk is quoted reporting 20% less processing time and about 120 hours/month saved after adopting Conveyor.
A third-party estimate puts Conveyor at ~$4.8M ARR (GetLatka, not company-reported; the same page also lists a conflicting $7.3M and an inconsistent '$0 funding').
More ▾Vanta bundles AI questionnaire automation into mainstream tiers: Plus 25 questionnaires/year, Professional 144/year.
Drata lists AI Questionnaire Assistance in its Foundation tier (Standard, 10 questionnaires included), so platform incumbents now bundle the feature.

HyperComply's published 12-month Respond AI contracts run $6,000/yr (<50 FTE) to $20,000/yr (500-1000 FTE), with Full-Service $10,000-$33,800/yr. | aws.amazon.com✓ |

Should you build this?
The pain is plausible but thin in the evidence. The only first-hand complaint with article text is a G2 review from Aug 21, 2022, and it says the AI answers were shallow and incomplete. The rest is search-result quotes, company PR, and an internally inconsistent GetLatka estimate. Incumbents keep moving down-market and bundling autofill free, so this is a price-and-simplicity bet, not a technology bet, with weak switching costs and no real moat. Before building, put up a one-page $149/mo unlimited offer, cold-email 50 sub-50-FTE SaaS founders who posted questionnaire complaints in the last 90 days, require a card, and treat 5%+ paid conversion from a demo-free trial as the go/no-go gate.
