Ops & productivity
Flat-Rate Painting Contractor OS
Flat per-company software for small painting contractors to price jobs, schedule crews and get paid, with unlimited seats at one price.
In plain English
- What category is this?
- Owners and teams buy to run day-to-day work — scheduling, projects, HR, ops. Here the focus is vertical SaaS.
- The idea, briefly
Build one flat per-company painting OS: room-by-room production-rate estimating plus scheduling, production board, job costing, invoicing/payments and a customer portal, with unlimited estimator/crew seats and done-for-you import of PaintScout production rates and job history. Caveat: this is not a novel category - PaintScout already bundles estimating and operations (and itself advertises data import), and $29-39/mo estimating-only tools exist - so only the flat unlimited-seat all-in-one packaging plus migration help is differentiated, and both are copyable.
More ▾- What buyers expect
People comparing tools like PaintScout, Jobber, Housecall Pro expect the basics to work without surprise fees or missing pieces. The loud complaints are: PaintScout is loved for estimating but scheduling/production is the reported pain, and operations is a separate $99/mo add-on; and solo and small painters are priced out.

Solo and small painters are priced out.
For small jobs the monthly stack does not pencil.
The work is split across tools that do not talk.
No production/job-costing/payroll layer at a small-shop price.
Pre-lead and post-job communication and marketing attribution are thin.
Per-seat pricing penalizes crew growth on the generalist tools. |

Market heat
PaintScout's homepage reports $4B+ dollars sold to date, a 23% average increase in win rate, and 'thousands of painting businesses' using it, with a 4.9-star Google rating (company-reported).
More ▾Housecall Pro states it is 'Trusted by 200,000+ Pros' and starts at $59/mo (company-reported on its pricing page).
Jobber markets a 'Home Service Community membership' of '20,000+ home service pros' as a plan feature, and its plans run $29-$529/mo plus $29/mo per extra user (company-reported).
More ▾The low end is already being attacked: PaintPricing sells unlimited painting quotes at $29/mo or $279/yr with a free public calculator (source 16, opened), and a competitor's Reddit post advertises a $39/mo painting estimate tool (source 10, secondary via PullPush, self-promotional and price unverified).

Should you build this?
Two caveats on evidence: the customer-pain sources are Reddit posts retrieved through the PullPush mirror rather than opened directly, and several of them come from vendors and competitors (PaintQuick's builder, fieldcamp.ai's builder, an implementation agency), so treat the pain signals as secondary. The opening is one flat per-company price that includes estimating, scheduling, job costing and billing with unlimited seats. It is not guaranteed: PaintScout has a deep community, trade endorsements, a podcast and paint-brand channels, and $29 to $39 a month estimating tools already exist, so the win depends on nailing the operations side, not just the price.
