Flat-Rate Indie Author Reader Hub
Flat yearly price for indie authors to deliver reader magnets and ARCs, collect emails, run swaps, and sell books direct — no download caps.
In plain English
- What category is this?
- Businesses buy to get customers — SEO, ads, content, analytics, social proof. Here the focus is creator economy.
- The idea, briefly
Build one flat author account that bundles unlimited reader-magnet and ARC delivery, reader-email capture into the author's own email tool, newsletter swaps and group promos, universal book links, and native direct ebook/audiobook checkout with a paid reader membership — with no download cap and no per-delivered-audio-hour fee. Caveat: StoryOrigin already sells an all-in-one author suite at $100/yr with unlimited file delivery, so only the flat unlimited packaging plus the native direct-sales/membership checkout is potentially new, and both are copyable.
More ▾- What buyers expect
People comparing tools like BookFunnel, StoryOrigin, BookSirens expect the basics to work without surprise fees or missing pieces. The loud complaints are: Download metering can bill a surprise overage and cannot be hard-capped. BookFunnel's own knowledge base states 'Overages are billed at $5 for every 1,000 downloads that exceed your limit' and 'We don't have a way for you to set a hard download limit on your account.'; and the feature that matters most to a new author — collecting reader emails — is gated to the $200/yr tier, so the $30/yr plan cannot build a list.

At the very start, even $100 a year is hard to justify. |

Should you build this?
Who pays: indie authors, especially the ones publishing a book or two a year who currently pay $100-$300 a year across BookFunnel, StoryOrigin, an email tool and a website. What the product does: one flat annual account that delivers their free reader magnets and advance copies, collects reader emails, runs newsletter swaps and group promos, and sells ebooks or audiobooks direct, with no download cap and no per-audio-hour fee. The demand is real but the wedge is thin: authors publicly call BookFunnel and StoryOrigin swaps the backbone of their marketing, yet the same authors complain the promo results are waning, that $100 a year is hard to justify when their list is empty, and that they cancel once a launch is over, and StoryOrigin already sells an all-in-one author suite for $100 a year with unlimited file delivery. A new tool has to earn the switch on the bundled direct-sale checkout and reader membership and on removing the download and audio meters, not on price alone. This is not a guaranteed win.
