Flat-Rate Creator Event Ticketing

Sell tickets to your own workshops and meetups for one flat monthly fee, with no per-ticket cut and member pricing for your existing subscribers.

In plain English

What category is this?
Businesses buy to get customers — SEO, ads, content, analytics, social proof. Here the focus is creator economy.
The idea, briefly

Build one flat per-account price with no per-ticket fee and no marketplace cut, member and non-member ticket pricing tied to the creator's existing subscriber list, and check-in included, so a creator's workshops and meetups ride on the audience they already own. Caveat: Luma Plus already removes its paid-event fee for $59/mo and Ticket Tailor's per-ticket fee is already low (~£0.60), so only the flat-plus-member-pricing combination is potentially novel, and it is copyable.

What buyers expect

People comparing tools like Eventbrite, Luma, Ticket Tailor expect the basics to work without surprise fees or missing pieces. The loud complaints are: Per-ticket fees hit cheap workshop and meetup tickets hardest; and organizers migrate off Eventbrite partly because of the fees.

Market heat

  • Eventbrite's own pricing page reports it transacted 270M tickets, serves 89M monthly users and hosts 4.7M events (company-reported).

  • Ticket Tailor's pricing page states 'Join over 73,000 Event Creators' (company-reported).

  • Luma runs a free-forever plan with unlimited events and guests and a $59/mo plan whose main selling point is removing its 5% fee on paid events.

  • The idea-specific pain evidence is historical, not current: the opened Hacker News comments on fee pain date to 2013-2014, so heat is supported by platform scale and active price competition rather than fresh buyer demand.

Should you build this?

Ticketing makes money at scale - Eventbrite says it moved 270 million tickets to 89 million monthly users and Ticket Tailor says 73,000 event creators use it (both company-reported) - and per-ticket fee pain is documented, though the clearest complaint sources here are Hacker News comments from 2013-2014 rather than current buyers: one organizer wrote on a $5 ticket the fee was 'almost 20%' (2014), another switched partly over 'the fees involved' (2013), and Eventbrite has since stacked a paid subscription (Premium, $69/mo, source 12) on top of its per-ticket fee. Who pays: a creator, coach or paid-community owner who runs workshops, meetups or small live shows and sells tickets to their own followers. The job is to sell a $10-$50 ticket, take payment, manage the guest list and check people in, without giving a platform a cut of every ticket. The problem is that the cheap end is already competitive and a flat price is not a strong wedge on its own. Luma is free with a 5% fee and its $59/mo plan removes that fee entirely, and Ticket Tailor charges about £0.60 per ticket, so a flat $29 plan mostly wins for people selling a few hundred low-priced tickets a month and mainly differentiates on the flat-plus-member-pricing combination, which is copyable. A tool built for a creator's own audience also gives up Eventbrite's buyer marketplace, which is exactly why many organizers stay. This is not guaranteed to work.
