Exam-Date Active-Recall Autopilot

Students pay once a semester for AI flashcards built from their lectures, with a daily review plan that lands before the exam.

In plain English

What category is this?
Schools, tutors, and learners buy for courses, training, or study tools.
The idea, briefly

Upload the term's lecture slides/PDFs, set each exam date, and get Anki-ready cards plus a daily review schedule that reflows when you miss days; review stays in free Anki, and you pay one flat student price for unlimited generation.

What buyers expect

People comparing tools like Quizlet, Ankify, AnkiHub expect the basics to work without surprise fees or missing pieces. The loud complaints are: Card creation, not review, is the bottleneck. An undergrad is reported to describe spending 'an hour or two to watch a lecture, an hour or two to make the cards, and then an hour or two… to learn the new cards and review old cards,' calling Anki 'just so damn time-consuming.' The Reddit page returned no body when opened by the critic, so this quote remains snippet-only and unverified; treat as an unconfirmed complaint, not a documented fact; and quizlet meters practice: on Plus a student gets 3 practice tests/month and 20 Learn rounds/month, and only Plus Unlimited removes the caps, so a student cramming many practice sessions for a single exam hits the limit.

Anki ships no built-in AI card generation, so the manual-writing cost remains even for students who already run Anki;
Existing generators do one-shot generation and export but, as far as the cited sources show, do not schedule study against a specific exam date;
Free alternatives already cover the core job: Knowt generates AI flashcards from lecture videos and notes and Anki review is free, so a paid generator competes directly with free.

Should you build this?

People already pay to solve this, and the numbers are not small: Quizlet reports 60 million learners and an estimated $139M in 2025 revenue (third-party GetLatka), AnkiHub charges $6-10 a month for add-on study tools, and Ankify says 30,000+ students have bought its card packs. The catch is crowding. Anki's review is free, Knowt gives AI card generation away, and Ankify already sells one-time packs from $9.99, so winning on generation alone is a losing bet. The narrow opening is workflow: tie generated cards to a specific exam date and reflow the study plan when a student falls behind, which the standalone generators do not advertise — but that absence is based on a handful of competitor pages, not documented. If fewer than five do, the wedge is too thin and this niche should be skipped.
