Creator Usage-Rights Watchdog

For UGC creators: track each brand deal's usage window and get alerted, with saved proof, when a brand runs your ad past the license.

In plain English

What category is this?
Companies buy to handle money and rules — payments, accounting, tax, audits. Here the focus is creator monetization.
The idea, briefly

Build a creator-side watchdog: log each deal's rights type, brand page, asset, start date and window; automatically scan the Meta and Google ad libraries for that asset after expiry (high-confidence for whitelisted/partnership ads under the creator's handle; for brand-page ads the scan surfaces candidate creatives the creator must match to their asset); archive timestamped proof; and generate a renewal quote in the creator's name - at one flat monthly price with no cut of the recovery. Caveat: this is not a clean gap. Paperclip already stores rights and expiries inside a $9.99/mo deal tracker, and ExpiredAds already does conditional recovery, so only the combination (persistent tracker + automatic ad monitoring + 0% cut) is novel, and it is copyable.

What buyers expect

People comparing tools like Paperclip, ExpiredAds, Flockler expect the basics to work without surprise fees or missing pieces. The loud complaints are: Creators have no tooling for usage windows while brands do; and expired usage rights are a named, recurring creator event.

GapSrc
Creators have no tooling for usage windows while brands do.
Expired usage rights are a named, recurring creator event.
Proof is perishable, so a creator cannot reconstruct an overrun after the fact.
Even the brand side admits it loses track.
The tools that do track rights are priced for brands, not individual creators.

Market heat

  • A dedicated expired-ad watchdog (ExpiredAds) already exists and has stopped accepting new scan requests, saying existing cases are still handled - my inference frames this as a demand-versus-capacity signal, but it could equally reflect unit economics that did not close.

Should you build this?

UGC creators plausibly lose money here: they agree a 30-, 60- or 90-day usage window, the brand keeps running the ad, and the creator has no tool that watches for it - one r/UGCcreators poster (snippet-only, unverified) said brands 'have whole tools to track this internally while creators have a spreadsheet at best.' A first mover, ExpiredAds, already proved someone will chase this, but it takes 25% of what you recover and has now stopped taking new scans, while the brand-side tools that track rights (Flockler at $379/mo, EmbedSocial at EUR 99/mo) are paid by the advertiser. Critic corrections applied: the strongest creator-side evidence is unopenable Reddit snippets, so demand is an interpretation, not directly documented; the 'proof is perishable' gap rests on the competitor's own marketing; asset-level auto-detection is reliable mainly for whitelisted/partnership ads under the creator's handle, not for brand-page ads; and the brand-side 'structural misalignment' is an inference, not an observation. Honest problems: the only direct comparable has stopped accepting customers, which is at least as consistent with a business that did not close as with unmet demand; the product only earns its keep when an overrun is caught; and Paperclip or ExpiredAds can add the missing half cheaply. A creator-side watchdog at a flat ~$19/mo with no cut of the recovery is the pitch, but it is not guaranteed to work.
