Own-It Indoor Cycling Trainer

A one-time-purchase indoor cycling app that runs structured workouts on any smart trainer, with no yearly subscription for riders who train indoors seasonally.

In plain English

What category is this?
Clinics, coaches, and consumers buy for care, fitness, or wellbeing workflows. Here the focus is consumer fitness.
The idea, briefly

Build a one-time-purchase structured indoor cycling app: own the ERG workout player and a plan library outright, run it offline on any smart trainer, and include every rider in the household at no extra charge. Caveat: this is a packaging and pricing wedge, not a novel capability - TrainerRoad, Wahoo and ROUVY already ship the workouts, and intervals.icu gives the analytics away free - so only ownership, offline use and household pricing are potentially differentiated, and all are copyable.

What customers complain about

What customers complain about
GapSrc
Seasonal riders must decide between cancelling and paying year-round.
Riders already cancel for the outdoor season.
Price increases trigger cancellations and seasonal churn.
There is no discounted adult/household plan at the two premium incumbents. Zwift's 'Family and Child Plan Request' thread is an active, recurring request channel,
App-store and web billing can double-charge.
Some riders explicitly want to stop renting.
The low end is already free or near-free, so price alone cannot win. Intervals.icu gives the analytics core away free and asks $4/mo, ROUVY offers a free 20 km/month tier,
Inference (not measured): a one-time purchase only wins where a rider wants ownership, offline use or household seats. No source segments the market on those preferences.

Should you build this?

People who ride indoors already pay a lot for it: TrainerRoad lists $209.99 a year and Wahoo Pro $179.99, and the forums show riders cancelling when prices rise and subscribing for only the two or three months the weather is bad. The opening is to sell the workout player once and include the whole household, instead of renting it forever. It is not a sure thing: intervals.icu already gives serious training analytics away free and ROUVY already sells a pause and a free tier, so a one-time price has to be cheap enough to beat a free floor while still funding plan updates. Validation step: find 20 cyclists who own a smart trainer and have paid for TrainerRoad, Zwift, SYSTM or ROUVY in the last year, show them a working offline ERG player, and ask for a paid pre-order at $79 one-time;
